Shards' Memories Jewellery Etc

Have you ever felt heartbroken after tossing in the bin that vintage broken pottery or china piece? Maybe a cherished heirloom passed down on your family for generations, and you were emotionally connected, or simply because it was nice?

And I bet when you visit some vintage shop or a flee market, you find yourself wondering what stories and conversations that gorgeous tea set has witnessed... If you're keen on anything vintage, the idea of broken china, with all its beautiful designs, being discarded and thrown away is probably a painful one.

What if I tell you I found a way to heal that kind of pain? To transform that feeling of loss into something unique, a wearable bit of history, a memorable piece of jewellery that will make you stand out and become an amazing conversation starter... Can be either a bespoke piece I will enjoy designing together with you from scratch starting with some broken china you own, or one of a kind piece from our online shop. In any of the cases, it will always be a unique piece no one else but you will own.

My name is Maria, and I would like to quickly tell you the story of my brand... One of my favourite things is to visit second hand and flee markets, and seeing broken discarded china and pottery laying around, with all the beautiful patterns, colours and gilding, gave me the idea of collecting them, maybe there was a way of using those gems and rescue them from certain death on some lost landfill...

For over 15 years I've been playing with all kinds of china and glass shards, experimenting and perfecting techniques to transform them in unique pieces of jewellery and decorative pieces. And the brand was born, created with the spirit of giving new life to broken pieces, transforming them in wearable bits of history, hoping that each one will bring happiness to whom possesses them and help to create new stories and memories.

Vintage china treasures are everywhere, surviving through time with all its cracks and bruises, as proof of the love they witnessed and joyful wear. And even though we might never know details about the past of some, when you pick up one of our handmade jewellery, you'll eventually ask yourself what stories it holds and hopefully you'll feel proud to wear that bit of history, adding new details to its existence.

Footnote:

The “Etc" on the name of the brand – etc is the abbreviation for “et cetera”, a Latin expression, “et” means “and”, while “cetera” means “the rest”, so it stands for “and other similar things", or “and so forth". It is there because, as a developing brand, in a near future it might evolve to include projects away from jewellery, like decorative pieces, architectural applications or even mosaic workshops. The ideas are there, only the future will tell...
